Lisbon 2018: 42 countries to take part in the upcoming contest!

Lisbon 2018 adventure has officially started after EBU's statement on the participation list. We have 42 countries participating in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Lisbon, Portugal after Salvador Sobral's winning with the song "Amar pelos dois" last year in Kyiv, Ukraine.

RTP, the host broadcaster, also announced the slogan and the logo of this year. They're calling all the communities to lovely Lisbon saying "All Aboard!" emphasizing the importance of the country's location. Lisbon is a city which connects Europe to the world. The audience will enjoy the ocean theme in next May.

Now it's time to host Europe's favorite TV Show: Eurovision!

Which countries will participate in the Eurovision 2018?

We already know the participating countries of the Eurovision 2018 with the official announcement of the EBU. Lisbon will be welcoming the 42 countries in Altice Arena. Russia has returned to the contest after one year-absence and unfortunately Macedonia has been forced to withdraw as they couldn't pay for their debts to the EBU.

What happened to Macedonia reminds us of the case of Romania back in 2016. The Balkan country was disqualified from the contest even though they already selected their representative performing in Stockholm, Sweden.

Portugal won the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! Where will next year's contest take place?

2017 Eurovision Song Contest finished on Saturday's night with the winning of Portugal represented by Salvador Sobral performing "Amar pelos dois" (Love for both of us) gaining 758 points breaking the record of Alexander Rybak.

Salvador Sobral was selected as the Portuguese participant for the contest in Festival de Canção 2017 in March. His winning entry could reach the top 3 in the betting odds just before the final and turned to be the hot favorite to win the contest.

He couldn't rehearse on stage in the first Eurovision week because of the health issues so did her sister who's the composer of the his song. Portugal hasn't been a successful country in the contest and hardly qualifies for the final in recent years. Salvador Sobral is now seen as a hero in Portugal after winning the contest for the first time.

Here's the full results of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest held in Kyiv, Ukraine:

The Portuguese national broadcaster RTP has announced today that Lisbon will host the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in May. The venue for the festival is yet to be confirmed but Meo Arena is the most potential one:

MEO Arena (Lisbon, Portugal): It has 20.000 people for concert events. The venue is one of the biggest indoor arenas in the European Union and the biggest one in Portugal. It's built for Expo 1998 held in the city.
